Gorgeous Visuals Can't Hide the Generic Story

Unpopular opinion: Demon Slayer is massively overrated. Yes, ufotable's animation is stunning. The Hinokami Kagura episode 19 was incredible. But remove the animation and what do you have? A very by-the-numbers shounen with a bland protagonist, one-note villains, and predictable plot beats. Tanjiro is too perfect—he has no real flaws. Nezuko is a plot device. The comedy is often poorly timed. It's enjoyable popcorn entertainment, but it's not the masterpiece people claim it is.
